A New face for Mohammed

Mohammed

Mohammed 2 Years After Surgery

This is the inspiring story of Mr. Mohammed Isaaka from Ghana in West Africa. 2 years ago Mohammed was diagnosed with a tumor behind his left eye. Fortunately for him the mass was benign, but in the process of the surgery his left eye and most of the left side of his face had to be removed. Since then this 28-year-old new husband has been living with a large hole in his face. Due to the extreme condition of his face he is forced to conceal the gaping wound on a daily basis.
Despite the advanced medical resources available to him in his home country of Ghana he had to face the realization that in order to not just save his life but to be able to live a normal life, he would have to pursue help from the international medical community outside of his home country.

Mohammed Without Eye-Patch

Coming from a small village this kind of extensive facial reconstruction surgery was financially out of his reach despite the compassionate efforts of his family and friends to raise the funds. During a visit to his local hospital he met by chance Mr. Philip Battiade, the Medical Director of Global Health Resource. Global Health Resource is a company based in Frankfurt, Germany and is a pioneer of medical tourism. Within an hour Mohammed, by utilizing their extensive network of leading medical professionals from around the world, had been in contact with Dr. V. B. Narayana Murthy, a world-renowned senior plastic surgeon at Global Hospitals & Health City, in India.  By the end of June, Mohammed hopes to return to his family in Ghana with a smiling face and fresh new outlook for his future.

It is our hope that by sharing Mohammed´s story, you will realize that experiences like this happen on a regular basis all over the world and that Global Health Resource is working to unite the international medical community along with kind hearted individuals and institutions that desire to help. Any and all that would like to be part of this community, are encouraged to contact Mr. Daniel Beyer at Global Health Resource: +1(562) 881-1900

Dr. Kwame Danso with Daniel Beyer

Dr. Kwame Danso is the medical director and CEO of the Ghana – Canada Medical Center in Accra, Ghana. He introduced the clinic as an ultra modern well equipped medical diagnostic and treatment center which provides world class health care services and our Global Health Resource delegation can only agree with that.

The clinic was started in 2008 and at the beginning only a few patients a day found their way to Dr. Danso. Now, there are three resident doctors, three outside doctors, 24 nursing staff and 8 international consultants who travel in from Canada at regular intervals and the clinic has the capacity to receive over 200 patients a day.

Ghana-Canada clinic has two operating rooms, an eye clinic, a dental clinic, obstetrics and gynae as well as a pediatric unit. Dr. Danso explained that “It is envisaged that the pediatric facilities will be developed into a center of excellence and possible referral and teaching resource center for the city of Accra and the country as a whole.”

Ghana-Cananda Medical Center

In addition to their excellent facilities, the Ghana Canada Clinic offers patients a membership plan for health insurance. The plan is divided into a standard, enhanced and executive member plan offering free GP consultations and 24 hour emergency assessment and stabilization. Obviously, Dr. Danso has began to realize his concept of modern, world class health care at an affordable price.

Today, Global Health Resource launched its Ghana initiative.

This five day project is part of an initiative to promote Ghana as a hub for medical tourism in West Africa and to promote the GHR services within Accra. The Global Health Resource delegation is led by the CEO, Mr. Daniel Beyer.

Dr. Adrian Oddoye with Mr. Daniel Beyer

Mr. Beyer made the following comment: “Our mission is two-fold: On the one side we are promoting Ghana as a West Africa hub for medical tourism and we are closing agreements with local hospitals to provide GHR international services to their patients. Today, we have started negotiations with the Trust Hospital, Ergon German Clinic, NeuroGhana and the Akai House Clinic. We enjoyed a very positive reception and are very excited to be able to promote these clinics as future GHR partners. We will actively promote their activities in neighboring African countries and facilitate medical travel for their patients seeking treatment abroad.”

“Up to now, I have experienced Ghana as the friendliest country in Africa. The infrastructure is great and the medical services offered are much more than I expected. That being said, even Ghana may reach its limits when cases get complicated and high end specialty surgery is needed. This is where Global Health Resource can play a large role in augmenting the services offered to Ghana.”

Akai House Clinic in Accra, Ghana

“One of the highlights for me today was my visit to Akai House Clinic. The waiting room was full with an internation selection of patients. Dr. Adriane Oddoye welcomed our delegation and personally took us on a tour of the facilities. The clinic, although being relatively compact, boasts a 64 slice CT scanner and has everything set up for mammography services and an MRI. Akai house Clinic is a first class diagnostic center and it regularly refers patients to outside facilities. This makes it an ideal partner for Global Health Resource.”

Daniel Beyer, CEO Global Health Resource

In a statement this morning, Global Health Resource announced that it plans to help establish Ghana as a medical tourism hub for West Africa.

Mr Daniel Beyer, CEO of Global Health Resource, who is currently in Ghana, made the following comments:

” There are over 800 million people in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa. Most of them do not have access to adequate medical care. I see that Ghana is a country of many possibilities and the medical facilities here are remarkable. Why send people from this region to South Africa or India when they have this Garden of Eden at the door step?”

Ghana is situated along the middle of the West African coast. It boasts many well equipped hospital and clinics and a medical community up to par with most European states.

Mr. Beyer continued” Places such as Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Nyaho Medical Center in Accra are already seeing patients from overseas, so we hope to be able to increase the number of patients visiting their facilities from neighboring countries. “

Ghana made medical history in 2007 when it was the first West African country to perform Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) on a patient with Parkinson’s Disease. An international team of brain surgeons led by the Ghanaian neurosurgeon, Dr. Nii Bonney Andrews performed the delicate seven hour operation at the Tema International NeuroCenter (TIN) located within the Narh-Bita Hospital in Tema.

Mr. Beyer continued ” We also plan to promote the use of ICT to connect Ghana’s hospitals and rural clinics to the international medical world. Telemedicine is an ideal tool for a country such as Ghana. This will make it possible to connect patients to specialist doctors anywhere in the world for diagnostics and consultation. In addition to this, our partners offer internet portals and platforms for virtual medical training. This will enable local medical students, doctors and nurses to augment their experience and training in clinical theory and practice.”

In a closing statement Mr Beyer said ” Ghana has really surpassed my expectations and I am determined to promote this country as the future of medical tourism in West Africa.”

Frankfurt, Germany

Yesterday, Daniel Beyer, the CEO of Global Health Resource announced that GHR is now extending its services to the USA.

Mr. Beyer commented ” Our market in the USA is very different from our market in other parts of the world. For this reason, we thought it would be of advantage for prospective patients from the US to have access to an information resource tailored to their needs.  As Europeans, our view and approach to medicine is different to that of Americans, so our USA office will be able to provide the information and address the needs to satisfy our US clientele.”

Mark Knight heads Global Health Resource USA

The new company called Global Health Resource USA, will be based just outside of Long Beach in southern California. It will be headed by Mr. Mark Knight from San Clemente, California.

Mr. Knight has over 2 decades of experience in customer service. His company, QwikResponse,  has become one of southern California’s primary disaster control and construction services. Mr Knight said “After over 20 years of managing a construction company, I feel that it is time to branch out and try something different. Global Health Resource is a great opportunity to extend a great community service to those who are sick and need help. Although medical travel may be a new concept for many of us, I have grown to appreciate the benefits that can arise by seeking medical attention abroad.”

Check out the new information service from Global Health Resource – Medicine Made Easy.

Working with Global Health Resource, I am always being confronted with those long Latin names for sicknesses and therapy names that I have never heard of. I was tired of continually asking the doctors on our Board of Advisers for explanations as to what this disease is and how that treatment works. It was a challenge for me, and I deal with this kind of information every day, how much more challenging must it be for patients trying to understand their sickness and their treatment options?

For this reason, Global Health Resource has designed a new patient  information service called Medicine Made Easy.

Medicine Made Easy is designed to explain complex medical procedures in layman’s  terms. Of course, this information has been simplified, and I have to advise every patient to consult their doctor before making any decisions. But I feel that Medicine Made Easy gives patients and their families a basic grasp of things so that when they do consult a doctor, they are able to be more in control of the situation.

From experience, I know there is nothing worse than not understanding what the doctor is talking about and having to go home from your appointment and do research afterward. That’s when all the questions come up, but your consultation time is over.

I hope that with Medicine Made Easy we can enable patients to feel more in control of the decision making process.

Daniel Beyer, CEO Global Health Resource

Frankfurt , Germany

Global Health Resource has announced its plans to promote autologous stem cell therapy and liberation therapy to patients suffering from MS.

In an interview today, Mr. Daniel Beyer of Global Health Resource announced a new campaign directed towards MS sufferers. Mr. Beyer said “For years now, there have been debates  and clinical trials for stem cell therapy and the so called ‘liberation therapy’ to relieve the symptoms of MS sufferers.”

“Many MS patient groups around the world are pushing for these treatments to be licensed in their countries. The process is slow and many patients are choosing to travel to Poland and other places to receive treatment. At Global Health Resource, we feel that these treatments are so far developed that we would like to offer them to our clients.”

MS is caused by the body’s immune system attacking and destroying its own nerve cells. Stem cell therapy for MS involves harvesting healthy stem cells and then rebooting the immune system. This is done with a chemotherapy session and radiation. After which, the stem cells are placed back into the body and start producing a new immune system that does not attack the nervous system. The current success rate seems to be about 70%.

Mr. Beyer went on to explain: “Liberation therapy is a completely different approach. Dr. Paolo Zamboni, a researcher at the University of Ferrera, suggests that that the improper drainage of blood from the brain (called chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency – CCSVI)  might play a part in causing MS, which is generally believed to be an autoimmune disease. His approach is to implant a stent into the main veins leading from the brain. This therapy has also given relief to many MS sufferers.”

“At Global Health Resource, we believe that the patient should decide which treatment he should or should not receive. Of course, we would never promote bogus procedures, but after careful deliberation we feel strongly that we can support this approach to treating MS.”

“We hope that we can facilitate and expedite the process for the many patients, especially in the UK and Canada, who are looking for this form of treatment. Our specialist board of Advisors can give them the information they need to make an educated decision. After which, Global Health Resource will be at their side before, during and after their treatment.”
